CYQ Certificate in Internal Verifying in the Active Leisure Sector, Level 3
Support and guide Assessors - contribute to quality assurance
This qualification aims to provide candidates with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to work effectively as an Internal Verifier on a specific programme of delivery of a nationally accredited syllabus within the Active Leisure Sector.

TARGET CANDIDATES
The course is designed for:
- Qualified Assessors who wish to develop their careers in training and development
- Those who are already working as Internal Verifiers but who do not hold a formal qualification
PREREQUISITES
Candidates must be 18 years old or over and must:
- Hold a nationally recognised assessing qualification, e.g.
- D32/D33/A1 Assessor Award or the CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing in the Active Leisure Sector
- Have a minimum of 6 months experience working as an Assessor within the Fitness Industry
- Have access to other Assessors in order to be able to complete the Internal Verifier portfolio
- Have a minimum of three years industry experience and hold a nationally recognised qualification in the particular subject area that they wish to internally verify, e.g.
- a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Gym or Exercise to Music Instruction or equivalent
- Candidates should provide additional evidence of CPD (continued professional development) and work experience
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Online course covers the theoretical elements of the following subjects:
- The role of the Internal Verifier
- Principles of assessment
- Feedback and action planning
- Making an accurate judgement
- Standardisation
- Candidate tracking and programme monitoring
- External verification
The course includes One Practical Training Day at the YMCA in Cambridge, the date to be arranged through the YMCA Office.
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE
The qualification is comprised of two Units. Candidates will be required to:
Unit 1: Support and Guide Assessors
- Complete IV Sampling Plans - for a minimum of two assessors
- Complete IV Reports – for a minimum of two assessors on 2 different occasions
- Complete written evidence of a Standardisation Exercise
Unit 2: Contribute to Quality Assurance Procedures
- Complete a Quality Assurance IV Worksheet
- Conduct an observed assessment of the practice of a minimum of two assessors
- Note: candidates will need to arrange for this Independent Assessment to take place in the workplace:
- There is an additional fee of £135 plus travel expenses for the Workplace Assessment
