We need Supported Lodgings Hosts
YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Supported Lodgings is an independent body working in partnership with Peterborough Housing Options and the Peterborough Supporting People Team. The scheme provides young adults aged 16-25 with a place to stay while they find something more permanent.
It can be difficult moving from childhood to adulthood. Your own expectations, as well as other people’s, are changing fast. Some young people do not have a decent home and lack the safety and security of a family environment during this critical period in their lives.
Supported Lodgings is a means of providing such young people with a warm home within a family setting, allowing them to develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently and to lead a successful adult life.
Can you help a vulnerable young person?
If you can provide a room, for which you will receive rent every week, and provide family support and a stable environment, you could earn up to £70 a week by offering a young person the chance of a better start to adult life.
Supported Lodgings hosts come from many walks of life and backgrounds. They must have an interest in and concern for the welfare and safety of young people. There are no limits to ethnicity, religious or sexual orientation, and you can be married, single, living as a couple, with children or without, young or not so young.
If you are over 25 and have a spare room in your home and can offer support to a young adult, please contact Karen Milford, Senior Project Worker, on 01733-891891, email karen.milford@theymca.org.uk
